Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a time you learned a new software tool quickly to finish a project.

What they are checking: Whether they can self-teach a platform, since most interns arrive without GRC system experience.

Tell me about a time you had to explain something technical to someone who wasn't.

What they are checking: Whether they can support business users of the system without making them feel lost.

What skills are you hoping to build this summer, and how does GRC systems work fit that?

What they are checking: Whether they have a real reason for choosing this niche team over a general tech internship.

What would you do

A user says a report from the GRC system shows the wrong owner for a set of controls. How would you investigate?

What they are checking: Whether they trace data back to its source rather than editing the report output directly.

You're asked to document how a workflow in the system works today. How do you go about it?

What they are checking: Whether they talk to users and verify steps instead of writing documentation from assumptions.

You find a small bug in a workflow but fixing it would change how a team works. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they escalate changes with business impact rather than fixing quietly on their own.

About the work

What does governance, risk and compliance mean to you, and why would a clearinghouse need systems to support it?

What they are checking: Whether they understand GRC as tracking risks, controls and issues so a regulated firm can prove it is managed.

Have you worked with any GRC or workflow platforms, like ServiceNow or Archer? What did you do in them?

What they are checking: Whether they have any hands-on exposure to configurable platforms, which speeds up a 12-week ramp.

How would you explain the difference between a risk, a control and an issue?

What they are checking: Whether they know the basic vocabulary the GRC team uses every day.

Why might audit trails and access controls matter so much in a system that tracks compliance?

What they are checking: Whether they see that the GRC tool itself must be trustworthy for regulators to rely on it.
