Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about an audit finding in SAP security you helped close. How did you fix the root cause?

What they are checking: Whether they fix the underlying process so the same finding does not come back next year.

Tell me about a time you worked with a vendor's implementation team to get a change done right.

What they are checking: Whether they can hold outside teams to the company's security standards while keeping work moving.

What would you do

A manager asks you to give a user firefighter access right now to fix a production issue. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they can move fast in an emergency while keeping the approvals and logging auditors expect.

How do you handle access during an SAP upgrade or new module rollout?

What they are checking: Whether they plan role changes ahead so go-live is not blocked by missing authorizations.

How do you run a user access review so business owners actually review instead of rubber-stamping?

What they are checking: Whether they design reviews that people can complete meaningfully, which makes the control real.

About the work

Walk me through how you design an SAP role so it gives people what they need and nothing more.

What they are checking: Whether they build roles on least privilege rather than copying broad access from someone else.

How do you find and fix segregation of duties conflicts in SAP?

What they are checking: Whether they know how to use rule sets and mitigating controls to keep conflicts from becoming audit findings.

What's your experience with SAP GRC Access Control, and how did you use it day to day?

What they are checking: Whether they have hands-on governance tool experience, not just knowledge of the concepts.

How do you estimate the work for a security enhancement request?

What they are checking: Whether they can scope work clearly, which the posting asks them to lead.

What documentation do you keep for roles and changes, and who uses it?

What they are checking: Whether their records support audits and handoffs instead of living only in their head.
