Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Walk me through a disaster recovery program you designed or rebuilt. What did it cover, and how did you prove it worked?

What they are checking: Whether they have owned DR end to end, including the testing that shows plans are real.

Tell me about a real incident where you had to recover systems. What went well, and what did you change afterward?

What they are checking: Whether they have handled live disruption calmly and turned lessons into lasting improvements.

What would you do

A DR test fails badly the night before a regulatory deadline for evidence. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they report honestly and fix the real gap rather than hiding a failed test.

How do you influence application architects to design systems that are easier to recover?

What they are checking: Whether they can shape architecture early, which the posting names as a way to reduce recovery times.

How do you keep DR plans current when infrastructure changes every week?

What they are checking: Whether they connect DR to change management so plans do not quietly go stale.

About the work

How do you set recovery time and recovery point objectives for systems, and who should agree to them?

What they are checking: Whether they tie RTO and RPO to business impact and get business owners, not just IT, to sign off.

How have you automated recovery workflows, and what did that change in your recovery times?

What they are checking: Whether they have engineered resilience with orchestration rather than relying on long manual runbooks.

What DR metrics would you report to leadership to show the program's real health?

What they are checking: Whether they choose meaningful measures like test pass rates against RTO rather than plan completion counts.

How does ransomware change the way you think about disaster recovery compared to a data center outage?

What they are checking: Whether they understand that backups can be compromised and that clean, isolated recovery is a different problem.

How do you manage DR issues and remediation so they actually close instead of aging on a risk register?

What they are checking: Whether they can drive governance and remediation to completion, which the posting emphasizes.
