Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Walk me through a pricing strategy you built that changed business results in a measurable way. What was the starting problem and what moved?

What they are checking: Whether they can tie a pricing decision to real margin or revenue impact instead of describing activity.

Tell me about a time you had to get product managers and directors to agree on a pricing change they did not originally support.

What they are checking: Whether they influence peers with evidence and patience when they lack direct authority over them.

Danaher runs on the Danaher Business System. How have you used continuous improvement tools to make a pricing or quoting process better?

What they are checking: Whether they can apply lean problem solving to commercial processes, not just to factories.

Describe a pricing call you made that turned out wrong. How did you notice and what did you change?

What they are checking: Whether they monitor results honestly and correct course quickly instead of defending a past decision.

How do you build and develop a pricing team so it is seen as a business partner and not a discount approval desk?

What they are checking: Whether they can lead a function toward strategic influence rather than transactional gatekeeping.

What would you do

A sales leader wants a deep discount to win a large academic deal, and the product manager says it will set a bad precedent. How do you structure that deal?

What they are checking: Whether they can design deal terms that win business without quietly resetting the price floor for everyone.

You are working fully remote with teams across regions. How do you keep a global pricing policy consistent while respecting local market differences?

What they are checking: Whether they can balance central governance with regional realities without creating gray-market or arbitrage problems.

About the work

SCIEX sells mass spectrometry systems, consumables and service. How would you think about pricing the instrument versus the recurring revenue that follows it?

What they are checking: Whether they understand razor-and-blade economics and lifetime customer value in capital equipment businesses.

What does good deal architecture look like to you on a complex multi-year agreement with instruments, software and service bundled together?

What they are checking: Whether they can build bundles, tiers and terms that protect value and stay easy for sales to sell.

How have you used pricing analytics, like price waterfalls or win-loss data, to find where margin was leaking?

What they are checking: Whether they diagnose margin leakage with data rather than relying on anecdotes from the field.

How would you set a launch price for a new instrument when there is little direct competitor data to compare against?

What they are checking: Whether they can use value-based reasoning, customer research and positioning when market benchmarks are thin.
