Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.
About your past
Tell me about an integration you built that failed in production. How did you find the problem and what did you change?
What they are checking: Whether they learn from incidents and design for observability and retries afterward.
Describe how you have worked with an architect on a design you disagreed with.
What they are checking: Whether they can raise technical concerns clearly and then commit to a decision.
What would you do
This role partners with the IT Integrations team on enterprise standards but owns the AI-specific work. How do you handle a case where their standard does not fit your use case?
What they are checking: Whether they can negotiate exceptions respectfully instead of going around the team that owns standards.
An AI use case team wants data from five systems in two weeks. How do you scope what is realistic?
What they are checking: Whether they can set honest expectations and deliver a useful first version on time.
About the work
Walk me through how you would design an integration that pulls data from an enterprise system into a GenAI use case, using MuleSoft, Boomi or Azure Integration Services.
What they are checking: Whether they can design the full path, including auth, transformation, error handling and monitoring, not just the happy path.
What do you know about FHIR APIs, and where have you used them or something similar?
What they are checking: Whether they understand healthcare data standards, which matter when AI touches clinical or patient data.
How would you handle patient or protected health information flowing into an AI solution?
What they are checking: Whether they think about privacy, minimization and access controls before building, given healthcare regulations.
The role may include on-call for production support. How do you design integrations so the person on call at 2 a.m. can figure out what broke?
What they are checking: Whether they build logging, alerts and runbooks with operations in mind.
How would you use Python alongside a middleware platform, and when would you choose one over the other?
What they are checking: Whether they can make sensible tool choices instead of forcing everything into one approach.
How do you handle schema changes in a source system that would break your downstream AI pipeline?
What they are checking: Whether they plan for versioning and contract changes rather than reacting after things break.
