Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about your sales background. Have you sold transportation or logistics before, and if not, what transfers?

What they are checking: Whether they have a proven sales record and can connect it to selling freight services to shippers.

Walk me through a typical week of sales calls. How many, in person or by phone, and how do you track them?

What they are checking: Whether they have the activity discipline that field sales to small and mid-size customers requires.

Tell me about a deal you lost. What did you learn from it?

What they are checking: Whether they can look at a loss honestly and change their approach, which predicts growth over time.

This role has a base salary plus incentives tied to growth. How do you stay motivated in the slow months?

What they are checking: Whether they are driven by results and can keep prospecting when the pipeline is thin.

What would you do

You are starting fresh in the Kenosha and Zion territory. How would you build a pipeline in your first 90 days?

What they are checking: Whether they have a real prospecting plan for a local territory instead of waiting for leads to show up.

A prospect says they are happy with their current carrier. What do you say next?

What they are checking: Whether they can find a real pain point, like service failures or claims, instead of giving up or just cutting price.

One of your customers just had a delivery damaged and is threatening to leave. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they work with operations to fix the issue and keep the account rather than blaming the terminal.

How do you work with terminal operations so the promises you make to customers can actually be kept?

What they are checking: Whether they coordinate with operations before committing, which protects the customer and the company's reputation.

About the work

How would you explain LTL to a small manufacturer who has only ever shipped full truckloads or parcel?

What they are checking: Whether they understand LTL basics like freight class, density and consolidated shipping well enough to sell it.

How do you decide whether a piece of freight is good business to win, not just any revenue?

What they are checking: Whether they think about lane fit, density and margin, since bad freight can hurt the network more than it helps.

How do you use a CRM or other tools to manage accounts and follow-ups?

What they are checking: Whether they stay organized and keep records others can use, which supports market share growth over time.
