Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

Behavioral

Walk me through a piece from your portfolio that you're proudest of, and tell me what happened after it went live.

whether the candidate ties creative choices to actual performance outcomes, not just aesthetics

Tell me about a time you spotted a trend in your own feed and turned it into brand content. What made you think it would work, and did it?

genuine trend-spotting instinct versus just copying what other brands already did

Give me an example of a creative test you ran or were part of. What was the hypothesis, what did you learn, and what did you change because of it?

whether they treat content creation as a testable, iterative discipline rather than one-off output

Tell me about a time a stakeholder gave you very specific, maybe overly prescriptive creative direction that you disagreed with. What did you do?

ability to take detailed direction and iterate without ego, while still advocating when needed

You'd be mentoring other team members on social design. Describe a time you gave feedback on someone else's creative work. How did you make it land?

readiness for the informal mentorship aspect of the role, not just individual output

Technical

We speak to both B2C and B2B audiences on the same channels. How would you make a piece of content feel native to social while still working for a B2B audience like our dealers or commercial customers?

understanding that platform-native doesn't mean one-size-fits-all tone across audiences

What's in your current toolkit for static, motion and short-form video, and where does AI actually fit into that workflow versus where you still do things by hand?

real fluency with named tools (Canva, CapCut, Adobe, Instagram Edits) and honest judgment about where AI helps versus where it doesn't

How do you think about maintaining a recognizable brand look and feel on social without turning it into a rigid template that fights against what actually performs on each platform?

grasp of the tension between brand consistency and platform-native relevance the posting explicitly names

How many projects do you typically have moving at once, and what's your system for making sure nothing slips when priorities shift midweek?

real organizational habits versus a vague claim of being organized

What's an AI-enabled shortcut you use in your workflow that you'd defend to a creative director who's skeptical of AI in creative work?

whether AI use is thoughtful and quality-preserving rather than a crutch that dilutes creative judgment

Situational

Say marketing hands you a dense product spec sheet for a new generator and asks for a 15-second TikTok. Walk me through how you'd turn that into something people actually watch.

ability to simplify complex technical information into a visual sound bite

You've got an editorial calendar planned two months out, and then a trend breaks that's perfect for us today. How do you decide whether to drop everything, and how do you actually execute fast without breaking your existing workflow?

prioritization instincts and whether they have real repeatable processes versus chaos-driven work

If I gave you a short creative brief right now, how would you start, and what would you need from me before you got moving?

process and question-asking instincts, previewing how they'd handle the take-home creative assignment
