Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a requirement you wrote that engineering or testing found unclear. What did you learn from it?

What they are checking: Whether they write requirements that are testable and specific, and whether they improve when they fall short.

Describe a time you translated a messy business process into a clean user story with acceptance criteria.

What they are checking: Whether they can turn vague risk and audit needs into the clear, scalable definitions the role is built around.

Tell me about a time you had to push back on a senior stakeholder's requirement.

What they are checking: Whether they have the confidence and judgment a senior analyst needs to challenge requirements that would hurt the solution.

What would you do

Risk, Compliance and Internal Audit each want the control library set up differently. How do you get to one design?

What they are checking: Whether they can bridge competing GRC stakeholders toward a shared model instead of building three disconnected versions.

Halfway through a release, Compliance tells you a new regulation changes the requirements. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they handle scope change calmly by weighing risk, timeline and stakeholders instead of just absorbing it.

About the work

Walk me through how risk, controls, policies and issues relate to each other in ServiceNow IRM.

What they are checking: Whether they understand the IRM data model deeply enough to design solutions that will hold together at enterprise scale.

How would you decide whether to configure out-of-the-box IRM functionality or build something custom?

What they are checking: Whether they protect upgradeability and simplicity while still meeting real risk and compliance needs.

How do you design a control attestation process that people will actually complete on time?

What they are checking: Whether they understand that adoption and workflow design decide whether GRC data is complete and trustworthy.

An auditor asks how a control test result in ServiceNow traces back to the original evidence. How would you make sure that trail exists?

What they are checking: Whether they design for audit traceability from the start rather than discovering gaps during an exam.

How would you plan the data migration of existing risks and controls from spreadsheets into IRM?

What they are checking: Whether they know migrations fail on data quality and ownership, and plan cleanup before loading anything.

What reporting would you give a chief risk officer from IRM, and what would you leave out?

What they are checking: Whether they know what senior risk leaders need to act on versus raw platform data that just creates noise.
