Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a flaky test suite you inherited. What did you do about it?

What they are checking: Whether they fix test reliability or learn to live with it.

Describe a time you had to keep shipping frequently in an environment with validation and change control requirements.

What they are checking: Delivery speed inside a regulated pharmaceutical environment.

This is a Senior Technology Engineer II in North Chicago covering both platform and full stack work. What do you want to know about how much of the week is pipeline work versus application development?

What they are checking: Whether they clarify a genuinely two-sided role before accepting.

What would you do

How do you standardize a toolchain across teams who have each chosen their own?

What they are checking: The standardization duty this role carries, which is more political than technical.

How do you monitor a pipeline so you know it is degrading before a developer complains?

What they are checking: Observability applied to the delivery system itself.

A build breaks at two in the afternoon and twelve developers are blocked. Walk me through the first ten minutes.

What they are checking: Incident response on the shared infrastructure this role owns.

About the work

Walk me through a continuous integration and delivery pipeline you built. What made the builds reliable rather than mostly reliable?

What they are checking: Pipeline engineering judged by repeatability, which this posting leads with.

Where do you put security scanning in a pipeline so it catches things without stopping every build?

What they are checking: Practical integration of security scanning, which the posting names.

You work across backend services and frontend components. Which do you reach for first when performance is bad, and why?

What they are checking: Full stack diagnosis rather than a specialty bias.

What does testable code mean to you? Give me an example of a change you made purely to make something easier to test.

What they are checking: Whether modularity and testability are habits or aspirations.
