Likely interview questions for this role
Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.
Behavioral
Walk me through a time you filled a senior or specialized role that was tough to source for. What made it hard, and what did you actually do differently?
whether the candidate has real hands-on experience with complex searches versus just describing a process
Tell me about a time a hiring manager disagreed with your read on the market or the candidate pool. How did you handle that conversation?
consultative confidence and ability to push back on stakeholders without damaging the relationship
Tell me about a time you missed a time-to-fill target or SLA. What happened, and what did you do about it?
honesty and accountability under performance pressure, not just success stories
Describe a time you had to deliver hard feedback to a candidate who was clearly disappointed. How did you handle it?
candidate experience skills and comfort with uncomfortable conversations
Tell me about a time you had to build a talent pipeline for a role or function that didn't exist yet in the company. What did you do first?
strategic thinking and workforce planning ability beyond reactive requisition filling
Technical
How many open requisitions have you typically carried at once, and how do you decide which ones get your attention first on a given day?
whether they can actually handle a full req load and prioritize under real workload pressure
What sourcing channels do you rely on beyond job boards, and can you give an example of a hire that came from one of those less obvious channels?
depth of sourcing skill versus reliance on inbound applicants
What recruiting metrics do you track week to week, and can you give an example of a time the data told you to change your approach mid-search?
real fluency with data-driven recruiting, not just familiarity with the terms
Which ATS platforms have you worked in, and what's something you built or configured that made your team's process faster?
actual technical comfort with recruitment systems versus surface-level exposure
What employment laws or regulations have come up most often in your recruiting work, and how have they shaped how you screen or make offers?
real working knowledge of compliance, not textbook awareness
Situational
If a hiring manager gave you a job description that was vague or unrealistic for the market, what would you do before you started sourcing?
whether they proactively shape the search rather than passively execute a bad brief
Say a hiring manager wants to move fast and skip a proper interview loop for a candidate they like. How do you respond?
willingness to hold the line on process and compliance even under pressure to move quickly
You've got three executive-level searches open and a hiring manager who wants a daily update on each. How do you manage your time and their expectations at the same time?
ability to manage competing stakeholder demands without burning out or dropping quality
