Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Walk me through a product launch you marketed from the first brief to the first flows. What did you own and what did you hand off?

What they are checking: Whether they have actually commercialized a product end to end or only produced pieces of collateral for someone else's launch.

Tell me about a time compliance sent back marketing copy you were proud of. What happened next?

What they are checking: Whether they treat regulatory review as part of the job in asset management rather than an obstacle to get around.

Describe a time you turned a dense investment idea into a message a non-specialist could repeat.

What they are checking: Whether they can simplify without dumbing down, which is the core skill in translating investment teams for buyers.

What would you do

A portfolio manager wants the marketing story to lead with a three-year return that looks great but came mostly from one quarter. How do you handle that?

What they are checking: Whether they protect the firm from misleading performance claims while keeping a working relationship with the investment team.

How do you build a competitive story when a rival's real asset fund has a stronger track record than ours?

What they are checking: Whether they can compete honestly on process, team and fit when the headline numbers do not favor them.

Sales says the pitch book is too long and nobody reads past page five. How do you decide what stays?

What they are checking: Whether they can edit ruthlessly around what actually moves a buyer while keeping required disclosures and context.

You have three product teams asking for launch support in the same quarter. How do you decide who gets your time?

What they are checking: Whether they prioritize by business impact and readiness rather than by who asks loudest or most senior.

About the work

Pick a public markets strategy you know, fixed income or equity, and tell me how you would position it against a cheaper passive alternative.

What they are checking: Whether they can find a real edge in an investment capability instead of falling back on generic claims about active management.

What do you need to know about how a fixed income strategy manages duration and credit risk before you write a single line about it?

What they are checking: Whether they understand the product well enough to write accurately for sophisticated institutional and advisor audiences.

How would you tailor the same equity capability for an institutional consultant, a wealth advisor and a retail investor?

What they are checking: Whether they know these audiences evaluate products differently and need different proof points, not just different tone.

How do you measure whether product marketing worked when flows depend on markets, sales effort and timing?

What they are checking: Whether they can separate marketing influence from market noise and still report something leadership can trust.
