Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a full-stack feature you owned from design to production. What were the hardest tradeoffs?

What they are checking: Whether they truly own delivery across front end, server and database rather than one slice of it.

Tell me about a time you mentored another engineer. What changed for them?

What they are checking: Whether they help others grow through real coaching, not just by answering questions.

Describe a performance problem you tracked down in a distributed system.

What they are checking: Whether they measure first and find the real bottleneck rather than optimizing by guesswork.

What would you do

In a you-build-it-you-run-it team, your feature causes an outage at 2 a.m. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they take operational ownership seriously, from mitigation through the follow-up fix.

You disagree with an architect's design during review. How do you raise it?

What they are checking: Whether they challenge ideas with evidence and stay collaborative once a decision is made.

About the work

How would you design an Azure-based service that has to stay resilient when a dependency fails?

What they are checking: Whether they know patterns like retries, timeouts and circuit breakers and when each one helps.

How do you handle money values and rounding in code for a financial SaaS product?

What they are checking: Whether they avoid floating point errors and think about currency precision, which matters for customer trust.

Walk me through how you'd estimate a feature a product manager just described to you.

What they are checking: Whether they break work down, surface unknowns and give honest ranges instead of guesses.

How would you change a database schema on a large production table without downtime?

What they are checking: Whether they understand safe, staged migrations that keep a live SaaS product running.

What does good test coverage look like for a service handling customers' financial data?

What they are checking: Whether they test the risky paths and edge cases, not just chase a coverage number.
