Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

You would lead junior team members and review their builds. How do you review someone's campaign without simply rebuilding it?

What they are checking: Whether they can coach junior builders with clear feedback, helping them improve rather than quietly redoing their work.

Tell me about a campaign build that took far longer than expected. Why?

What they are checking: Whether they can be honest about estimation mistakes and explain what they learned, which shows maturity and self-awareness.

This sits in the AbbVie Digital Lab at Mettawa as a senior specialist leading junior builders. What would you want to know about the platform setup and the brand workload?

What they are checking: Whether they ask about the platform and workload they would inherit, which shows they plan before they commit.

What would you do

A campaign goes out with an error. Walk me through the next hour.

What they are checking: Whether they stay calm, assess the impact and communicate quickly after a bad send, since the email cannot be pulled back.

You would participate in agile delivery including design, build and continuous improvement. How do you fit careful quality control into a sprint cadence?

What they are checking: Whether they build quality checks into each sprint, so speed never means sending flawed campaigns to customers.

About the work

This role builds complex omnichannel journeys and trigger campaigns in a marketing automation platform. Walk me through building a multi-step journey from a brand brief.

What they are checking: Whether they have built multi-step journeys themselves from a brief, rather than only knowing the platform's features.

You monitor email deliverability across domains and address sender reputation issues. What actually damages deliverability, and how do you recover it?

What they are checking: Whether they understand what hurts sender reputation, like bounces and complaints, and know practical steps to recover it.

You would do quality control on campaigns before they send. What do you check that catches the errors people miss?

What they are checking: Concrete checking routine where a mistake reaches thousands of recipients.

Pharmaceutical email carries rules about what can be said to whom. How does that shape a campaign build?

What they are checking: Whether they understand that pharmaceutical email must follow strict rules on claims and audiences, unlike ordinary marketing campaigns.

How do you diagnose a trigger campaign that is firing for the wrong audience?

What they are checking: Whether they can debug entry rules and data step by step to find why a trigger reaches the wrong people.
