Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

How do you get users to adopt an app you've built for them?

What they are checking: Whether they plan training, communication and user involvement, because a solution only matters if people actually use it.

Tell me about a project where the scope moved. What did you do?

What they are checking: Whether they can control scope through clear communication and documentation, because changing requirements threaten budgets in billable work.

What would you do

A client wants something built quickly that you think will be a maintenance problem. What do you say?

What they are checking: Whether they can push back respectfully on quick fixes that create long-term issues, because clients rely on consultants for sustainable advice.

This is a senior role based in Chicago. What would you want to know about the client mix and your travel before you took it?

What they are checking: Whether they ask about clients and travel, because that shows they want to understand the practical shape of the job.

About the work

This is a senior functional consultant role on the Power Platform. What have you built — apps, flows, dashboards, or all three?

What they are checking: Whether they have real hands-on experience building apps, flows and dashboards, because this senior role expects proven work across the platform.

Walk me through how you'd take a client's manual process and design a Power Platform solution for it.

What they are checking: Whether they can turn a manual process into a well-designed solution, because that translation is the core deliverable of this consulting role.

How do you decide whether something should be a low-code app or needs real development?

What they are checking: Whether they understand where low-code tools reach their limits, so clients get solutions that remain reliable and maintainable over time.

What goes wrong when a client builds their own apps without governance?

What they are checking: Whether they know how unmanaged apps cause security, support and data problems, because every organization eventually needs platform governance.

How do you handle data and permissions so an app doesn't leak information it shouldn't?

What they are checking: Security design in a tool that makes it easy to skip

How do you hand a solution over so the client can support it themselves?

What they are checking: Whether they leave documentation, training and ownership in place, so clients can support solutions themselves after the engagement ends.

Basic Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree required. • 4+ years of relevant experience in business analysis, software implementation, digital transformation, or related technology consulting. • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and/or Power Platform preferred. • Strong writing and interpersonal communication skills. • Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently. • Availability to work Pacific Time. Preferred Skills: • Microsoft D365, Power Platform, or AI certifications • Public-sector, government, or other highly regulated industry experience. • Experience working in Agile/Scrum software-delivery environments. • Experience mentoring or reviewing the work of junior staff.
