Likely interview questions for this role
Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.
About your past
This role leads an indication product safety team for immunology products. Walk me through leading safety for an indication.
What they are checking: Whether they have led safety for an indication themselves, owning signal decisions and strategy rather than supporting someone else's work.
You'd analyze and interpret aggregate safety data and communicate it to executives and externally. How do you explain an emerging signal to leadership without overstating or burying it?
What they are checking: Whether they can present an uncertain signal honestly to executives, neither raising false alarms nor downplaying a real risk.
You'd coach and mentor colleagues as a safety leader. How do you develop someone's judgment on causality?
What they are checking: Whether they can teach others to judge causality well, building a team that makes sound safety calls without them.
What would you do
A finding would require a label change with commercial consequences. How do you handle that?
What they are checking: Whether they will put patient safety first even when a label change hurts sales, since safety judgment must stay independent.
The posting requires a medical degree with at least two years of patient management, five or more years of pharmaceutical patient safety including leadership, and prefers immunology or internal medicine, with the role hybrid at any of several United States sites. Where do you sit, and which site?
What they are checking: Whether they meet the stated medical and safety credentials and know which site they want, since both are firm requirements.
About the work
You'd set strategy for medical safety assessments, regulatory responses and risk management plans. Walk me through building a risk management plan.
What they are checking: Whether they have actually built a risk management plan, including risks, monitoring and minimization measures, not just reviewed one.
You'd lead the strategy for development safety update reports, periodic safety reports and periodic adverse event reports. What is each actually for?
What they are checking: Whether they understand the purpose of each periodic safety report, which shows real command rather than familiarity with the names.
Immunology therapies suppress the immune system by design. How does that shape how you assess infection or malignancy signals?
What they are checking: Whether they understand that infection and cancer risks are expected with immune suppression, so causality assessment needs extra care.
You'd lead safety components of regulatory submissions and interactions. What does a health authority most want to see from the safety section?
What they are checking: Whether they know what regulators look for in a safety section, like clear data and honest risk discussion, and can deliver it.
You'd apply pharmacology and non-clinical toxicology data to patient safety evaluation. How do you use preclinical findings when a clinical signal appears?
What they are checking: Whether they can link preclinical findings to clinical signals, using all the evidence to judge whether a risk is real.
