Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a time you redesigned a part to make it easier to manufacture or assemble.

What they are checking: Whether they practice design for manufacturing and assembly, which the posting emphasizes.

Tell me about a deadline you were at risk of missing on a design project. What did you do?

What they are checking: Whether they communicate early and adjust plans when coordinating with others on project requirements.

How do you mentor junior engineers on design practices?

What they are checking: Whether they act as a senior resource that improves the design team's work.

What would you do

The electrical engineer needs more space for components, but the customer wants a smaller footprint. How do you resolve it?

What they are checking: Whether they can work across disciplines and with customers to find a balanced solution.

A field service team reports a recurring mechanical failure. How do you respond?

What they are checking: Whether they support aftermarket needs and treat field failures as design feedback.

About the work

Walk me through how you would design a mechanical enclosure or frame for a product used in data centers or EV charging.

What they are checking: Whether they can apply mechanical design to the energy products and markets Faith serves.

How do you handle thermal management in a high-power electrical product?

What they are checking: Whether they understand cooling and heat transfer, which is critical in dense power equipment.

What CAD and analysis tools do you use, and how do you decide when an analysis like FEA is worth the time?

What they are checking: Whether they use tools with judgment rather than running analysis for its own sake.

How do you manage multi-level assemblies and BOMs so production builds the right thing?

What they are checking: Whether they handle configuration and documentation carefully, which prevents build errors.

How do you qualify a mechanical design before it goes to production?
