Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about producing tables, listings and figures under a study deadline. What did you do to avoid errors?

What they are checking: Accuracy discipline on regulated clinical outputs.

This is a hybrid role in North Chicago — three days onsite, two remote — asking for a master's degree plus one year as a data scientist with the named tools. What do you want to know about the therapeutic areas you would support?

What they are checking: Checking the real portfolio and the stated arrangement.

What would you do

A scientist reads a pattern in your visualization that you do not think the data supports. How do you handle it?

What they are checking: Honest pushback with a collaborator who has more domain knowledge.

What do you do when a database you rely on changes structure without warning?

What they are checking: Resilience of pipelines to upstream change.

About the work

Walk me through extracting biomarker data from several clinical databases and getting it into something a scientist can explore.

What they are checking: The data extraction and preparation this posting puts first.

How do you build a visualization that reveals a pattern rather than just displaying the data?

What they are checking: Visualization judgment, which the posting frames as enabling decisions.

What is the analysis data model standard for, and what does it change about how you work with clinical data?

What they are checking: Understanding of the ADaM structure this posting requires by name.

When do you reach for R and when for Python in this kind of work?

What they are checking: Practical tool judgment across the two languages named.

How does the analysis differ between a Phase 1 study and a Phase 3 one, from where you sit?

What they are checking: Awareness of how the phases this posting names change the work.

How do you decide a result is real rather than an artifact of how you prepared the data?

What they are checking: Skepticism about your own analysis.
