Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a program risk you spotted early and what you did before it turned into a problem.

What they are checking: Whether they manage risk proactively, which is the core of carrying a contract from order to delivery.

Tell me about a time you had to coordinate engineering, finance, legal and production on one deal. How did you keep everyone aligned?

What they are checking: Whether they can drive work through people who do not report to them without things slipping.

You're working with customers across many time zones and cultures. Give me an example of adjusting how you communicated to get a deal done.

What they are checking: Whether they adapt their style for international buyers instead of expecting everyone to work like a domestic customer.

As a senior specialist, how would you help a newer team member learn to build a compliant quote?

What they are checking: Whether they share knowledge and raise the quality of the whole team, not just their own files.

What would you do

An international tender has a requirement your standard truck doesn't meet. How do you handle it in the proposal?

What they are checking: Whether they flag exceptions honestly and early instead of promising something engineering cannot deliver.

A dealer overseas is pushing for a delivery date production says is impossible. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they can hold a hard line with a customer while protecting the relationship and offering real options.

Midway through a program, the customer asks for a change that affects price and schedule. How do you handle the contract side of that?

What they are checking: Whether they document changes formally so scope creep does not quietly eat margin or create disputes later.

About the work

Walk me through how you'd put together a response to an international competitive bid for fire apparatus, from receiving the tender to submitting it.

What they are checking: Whether they can run a full proposal process with deadlines, compliance checks and input from many departments.

What contract terms do you look at most closely on an international order, and why those?

What they are checking: Whether they understand payment terms, Incoterms, warranties, penalties and other clauses that create real financial risk.

How do export controls, letters of credit or customs paperwork affect when and how a truck ships overseas?

What they are checking: Whether they understand the compliance steps that can hold a finished truck at the dock and delay revenue.

How do you think about revenue recognition on a long international program, and what can push it into the wrong quarter?

What they are checking: Whether they connect delivery milestones and contract terms to the financial results leadership is counting on.
