About your past

Tell me about a time you presented GIS findings to people who were not technical. How did you make it clear?

Describe a time you had to learn a new subject area quickly to finish an analysis.

What they are checking: Whether they have the curiosity to learn geothermal topics, which the posting says it values.

Tell me about a time your analysis found a risk that others had missed.

What they are checking: Whether their work has caught real problems early, which is the main value of siting analysis.

What would you do

Two datasets you rely on disagree about where a protected area begins. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they check sources and document uncertainty instead of picking whichever answer is convenient.

The Senior Manager of Routing and Siting needs an answer on a site by end of day. How do you decide what analysis is good enough?

What they are checking: Whether they can scope analysis to the decision at hand and be clear about what is still uncertain.

About the work

Walk me through how you would do a site suitability analysis for a geothermal project.

What they are checking: Whether they can combine geologic, environmental and land data into a ranking that informs real siting decisions.

What geological or geophysical datasets would you look for to find good geothermal resources?

What they are checking: Whether they understand heat flow, faults and subsurface data well enough to support a geothermal team.

How would you approach routing a transmission line or pipeline to avoid environmental and permitting problems?

What they are checking: Whether they know least-cost path methods and the constraints, like wetlands and parcels, that shape a route.

What tools, such as ArcGIS Pro, QGIS or Python, do you use, and how do you automate repeat work?

What they are checking: Whether they work efficiently and can scale analysis across many sites without doing everything by hand.

How do you keep your GIS data organized so others can find and trust it later?

What they are checking: Whether they practice good data management, since project teams rely on shared data over long timelines.
