Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a stubborn data problem you traced to its source.

What they are checking: Persistence on an investigation that does not resolve quickly.

This is the senior seat in Lincolnshire, posted with a level two counter beneath it, and the company has stated the accuracy problem plainly in the advertisement. What would you want to know about the support you would have?

What they are checking: That they take the stated problem seriously and check whether they would be resourced to fix it.

What would you do

The posting states the plant's inventory discrepancy rate is currently forty percent. Where would you start?

What they are checking: Diagnostic instinct against a stated and serious problem.

You would partner with materials management, receiving, production and shipping. How do you investigate a discrepancy that points at another department's work?

What they are checking: Investigating colleagues without making enemies.

A discrepancy traces back to a process that several people rely on. How do you get it changed?

What they are checking: Turning a finding into a fix, which is the whole point.

How would you prevent a corrected discrepancy from recurring next quarter?

What they are checking: Durable correction rather than repeated adjustment.

How do you decide when to write off a discrepancy rather than keep investigating?

What they are checking: Judgment about when the investigation costs more than the answer is worth.

About the work

Sixty percent of this role is second-level root cause investigation. Walk me through auditing a transaction history to find why a balance is wrong.

What they are checking: The actual investigative work — goods receipts, production postings, scrap movements.

How do you tell a counting error from a transaction error from a process error?

What they are checking: The core distinction this role exists to make.

What would you measure to know whether inventory accuracy is genuinely improving?

What they are checking: Meaningful measurement rather than count completion rates.
