Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a marketing automation platform you owned, like Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Marketo or Slate. What did you build in it?

What they are checking: Whether they have truly run a marketing system end to end rather than only sending campaigns from one.

Tell me about a time you introduced a new system or process and people resisted it.

What they are checking: Whether they can lead change across departments that are used to their own tools and habits.

Tell me about a time you managed or mentored people who worked on marketing operations.

What they are checking: Whether they can lead and grow a team, which a senior associate director role usually requires.

What would you do

A program team wants to send a big email next week, but the list has data quality problems. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they balance responsiveness to internal clients with protecting data quality and the school's reputation.

How would you decide which automation projects to tackle first when every team has requests?

What they are checking: Whether they can prioritize by impact and effort and explain the reasons to stakeholders who did not get their way.

About the work

Booth markets to prospective students, alumni and executive education across several campuses. How would you structure data so each audience gets the right messages?

What they are checking: Whether they can design segmentation and data models that keep complex audiences from getting conflicting emails.

How do you connect a CRM, a marketing platform and web analytics so you can actually measure what drives applications?

What they are checking: Whether they understand integrations and attribution well enough to give leadership trustworthy insight.

How do you handle privacy rules like GDPR and CAN-SPAM when you're marketing to people in London, Hong Kong and the U.S.?

What they are checking: Whether they understand consent and data protection rules across regions where Booth operates.

What metrics would you report to leadership to show marketing systems are working?

What they are checking: Whether they think in terms of business outcomes like inquiries and enrollments, not just opens and clicks.

How do you document a marketing system so it doesn't depend on one person knowing how everything works?

What they are checking: Whether they build for continuity, since marketing systems often break when a key person leaves.
