About your past

Tell me about a change you made in IBP where you did a careful impact analysis first. What did you find?

What they are checking: Whether they consider downstream effects before changing a planning system the business relies on.

You are asked to mentor junior analysts and may delegate work. How do you decide what to hand off and how do you support them?

What they are checking: Whether they can grow others while keeping quality high, as the role expects.

This role is onsite in Madison up to four days a week. How do you use that time with planners to do your job better?

What they are checking: Whether they value being close to users to understand real planning problems.

Describe a time you improved a planning process, not just the system configuration.

What they are checking: Whether they see the business process behind the tool and can improve both.

What would you do

Planners say the forecast is wrong. How do you figure out whether it is a data problem, a model problem or a process problem?

What they are checking: Whether they can diagnose forecast issues methodically instead of blaming the tool.

A month-end planning run fails the night before an S&OP meeting. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they can stay calm, triage and communicate under a hard deadline.

About the work

Walk me through how you have configured demand planning in SAP IBP, including key figures, planning levels and forecast models.

What they are checking: Whether they have real hands-on IBP configuration experience, not just general SAP knowledge.

How does IBP exchange data with SAP ECC or S/4HANA, and where have you seen that integration break?

What they are checking: Whether they understand CPI-DS or other integration paths and common failure points.

How would you explain a statistical forecasting choice, like exponential smoothing versus a different model, to a business planner?

What they are checking: Whether they understand forecasting well enough to make it clear to non-technical users.

How do you manage testing for IBP quarterly releases?

What they are checking: Whether they have a regression approach for cloud updates that protects planning cycles.
