Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a Power BI report you built that changed how a team made decisions.

What they are checking: Whether their work drives action rather than just producing dashboards.

Tell me about a time you had to learn a new part of the revenue cycle quickly to answer a question.

What they are checking: Whether they can handle varied work, since the role says very little of it repeats.

What would you do

An operations leader needs a report by end of day, and you are halfway through a large modeling task. How do you handle it?

What they are checking: Whether they can manage urgent requests without letting longer-term work fall apart.

A client says your report numbers do not match their own. How do you work through it?

What they are checking: Whether they reconcile calmly and systematically, which keeps client trust in the data.

About the work

Walk me through a complex SQL query you wrote against Epic Clarity. What tables did you join and why?

What they are checking: Whether they truly know Clarity's structure, such as hospital accounts and transactions, rather than generic SQL.

How would you help design a new Epic reporting model, including table structure, based on existing reports?

What they are checking: Whether they can generalize from many existing reports into a clean, reusable data model.

How do you make sure a KPI like days in A/R or denial rate is calculated the same way across all clients?

What they are checking: Whether they think about definitions and data quality across sources, not just the visual.

How do you optimize a slow SQL query on large revenue cycle tables?

What they are checking: Whether they understand indexing, filtering early and query plans on big datasets.

How do you handle data for non-Epic clients whose data is hosted by R1 alongside Epic data?

What they are checking: Whether they can standardize reporting across different source systems.

How do you QA a report before it goes to a client?

What they are checking: Whether they check totals, edge cases and logic before anyone outside sees the numbers.
