Likely interview questions for this role
Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.
About your past
Inbound means unloading the truck and getting product out to the sales floor. Have you done physical work like this before, and how did your body handle it?
What they are checking: Whether they understand the physical demands and have shown they can keep up over a full shift.
Tell me about a time you worked on a team where everyone had to move fast and depend on each other.
What they are checking: Whether they pull their weight and communicate, since unloading and working freight is a team effort.
Doing the same task over and over can get tiring. How do you stay focused and accurate through a repetitive shift?
What they are checking: Whether they can keep quality up through repetition, which is what keeps stocking accurate.
What would you do
This is a 6am Inbound shift. How will you make sure you're in on time, ready to work, every morning?
What they are checking: Whether they have a real plan for early starts, because an inbound crew short one person falls behind fast.
The truck is bigger than usual and the store opens in a couple of hours. How would you work to get it done?
What they are checking: Whether they keep a steady pace and stay organized under a deadline instead of rushing into mistakes.
The store opens while you're still working freight on the floor. How do you keep guests safe around carts and boxes?
What they are checking: Whether they think about guest safety and keep aisles clear once the doors open.
You notice a box arrived damaged and the product inside might be broken. What do you do?
What they are checking: Whether they follow the process for damages instead of shelving broken product or tossing it without telling anyone.
About the work
How do you lift a heavy box safely, and what do you do if something is too heavy for one person?
What they are checking: Whether they know safe lifting and will ask for help rather than risk an injury to look fast.
You're stocking and the shelf location for an item is full. What do you do with the extra?
What they are checking: Whether they understand backstock and inventory accuracy rather than cramming product wherever it fits.
Inbound is part of the team that keeps inventory accurate. Why does it matter if the system says we have ten of something but there are really two?
What they are checking: Whether they connect accurate stocking to guests finding what they want, both in store and online.
