Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

You'd troubleshoot experiments and instrumentation. Tell me about a reaction that would not behave and how you worked it out.

What they are checking: Practical troubleshooting with a real example

You'd present technical topics to a mixed audience of scientists and engineers. How do you present a process problem to people who are not chemists?

What they are checking: Cross-disciplinary communication, named in the posting

What would you do

You'd support manufacturing facilities during commercial production. What does a plant need from a chemist when something goes wrong mid-campaign?

What they are checking: Plant support, a named duty

This is at Scientist level at North Chicago within product development science and technology. What would you want to know about the portfolio and the equipment before you took it?

What they are checking: Whether they diligence the work

About the work

This is a process chemistry role doing late-stage chemical process development. Walk me through a process you developed and scaled.

What they are checking: Process development ownership

What is different about late-stage process development compared with discovery chemistry?

What they are checking: The stated stage, understood

You'd develop processes that give practical access to potential therapies. What makes a route practical at scale that looks fine in a flask?

What they are checking: The central judgment of process chemistry

You'd support development and oversight of process chemistry and manufacturing controls at commercial sites. What does a control strategy do for a chemical process?

What they are checking: The named regulatory framework

How do you use data analysis to guide the next experiment rather than just record the last one?

What they are checking: The stated expectation, made real

How do you think about safety when scaling a reaction up?

What they are checking: Process safety, non-negotiable in scale-up
