Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

This job splits time between the sales counter and driving deliveries. How do you switch between the two without letting either one slip?

What they are checking: Whether they can handle a mixed role where a waiting customer and a waiting delivery both matter.

Tell me about your driving record and the kinds of vehicles you've driven for work.

What they are checking: Whether they can be trusted with a company vehicle, since a delivery role depends on a clean, safe driving history.

Tell me about a time you went out of your way to help a customer who was frustrated.

What they are checking: Whether they can turn a bad moment into a returning customer, which is much of what retail parts sales runs on.

What would you do

You have four deliveries going to shops in different directions around Melrose Park. How do you decide the order?

What they are checking: Whether they plan routes by promised time and distance instead of driving them in the order the tickets printed.

A customer at the counter needs a part for their car but isn't sure what's wrong. How do you help them?

What they are checking: Whether they ask good questions and look up the right part rather than guessing or rushing the customer.

A shop tells you the part you just dropped off is wrong and their car is stuck on the lift. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they stay calm, fix the problem fast, and own the mistake instead of pointing at someone else.

How do you handle bad weather or heavy traffic when a shop is waiting on a delivery?

What they are checking: Whether they put safety first and keep the customer informed instead of speeding to make up time.

About the work

What do you check on a delivery vehicle before you head out on a route?

What they are checking: Whether they treat a quick vehicle check as routine, which prevents breakdowns and keeps them safe on the road.

When you pick up a delivery, how do you make sure the part in the bag matches what the shop ordered?

What they are checking: Whether they double-check part numbers before leaving, because a wrong part means a second trip and an unhappy shop.

Pick one system, like brakes, the battery or the charging system, and explain how it works to me as if I were a customer.

What they are checking: Whether they have enough basic parts knowledge to sell well and can explain it in plain words.
