Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a time you helped a customer who didn't know exactly what they needed. How did you figure it out?

What they are checking: Whether they ask patient questions and listen, which is how a counter sale turns into the right part the first time.

Tell me about a customer who was frustrated or rude to you. How did you handle it?

What they are checking: Whether they stay calm and polite under pressure, since they represent the store both at the counter and at shops.

Tell me about your driving record and the kind of driving you've done for work before.

What they are checking: Whether they can be trusted with a company vehicle, since a safe record is the first thing a store driver needs.

Tell me about a time you went out of your way to make sure a customer got what they needed on time.

What they are checking: Whether they care about the result for the customer, which is what keeps repair shops calling this store first.

Have you ever made a mistake on a sale or an order? What happened and what did you do?

What they are checking: Whether they own errors honestly and fix them, which matters when a wrong part costs a shop real time.

What would you do

A customer asks you to recommend a part, but you aren't sure which one fits. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they will check the catalog or ask a teammate rather than guess and send someone home with the wrong part.

You arrive at a shop and the part in your bag doesn't match the invoice. How do you handle it?

What they are checking: Whether they catch mistakes at the door and fix them fast instead of leaving a wrong part for the customer to find.

You have three deliveries going to different shops around Bloomington and one customer calls asking where their part is. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they plan routes sensibly and keep customers informed, because late parts mean a car sits on a lift.

On a delivery run you notice a warning light on the company vehicle. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they put safety and vehicle care ahead of finishing the route, and report problems instead of hiding them.

About the work

When you pick up returns or used cores from a shop, what do you check before you bring them back to the store?

What they are checking: Whether they understand that returns and cores are money for the store, so they must be counted and documented correctly.
