Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a time you managed lab inventory or ordering.

What they are checking: Whether they keep supplies flowing, since running out of a reagent can stall the whole lab.

Tell me about contributing to a manuscript. What part did you write or prepare?

What they are checking: Whether they can help with figures, methods and data analysis, which the posting expects.

What would you do

Your qRT-PCR results are inconsistent between replicates. What do you check?

What they are checking: Whether they troubleshoot RNA quality, primers and technique methodically instead of repeating runs blindly.

About the work

Walk me through a molecular cloning project you did, from design to a verified construct.

What they are checking: Whether they can do cloning on their own, which the lab names as core hands-on experience.

Tell me about expressing and purifying a protein. What went wrong and how did you fix it?

What they are checking: Whether they can troubleshoot expression and purification, which is needed for therapeutic antibody work.

How do you set up a flow cytometry panel for immune cell profiling, and what controls do you include?

What they are checking: Whether they understand compensation and gating controls, since flow data without them can't be trusted.

What do you know about RNA-binding proteins and why they matter in cancer?

What they are checking: Whether they understand the biology behind the lab's focus, which helps them design and read experiments.

How would you test whether a therapeutic antibody has anti-tumor activity in cell culture?

What they are checking: Whether they can plan a basic validation experiment with the right controls.

How do you keep your lab notebook so someone else could repeat your experiment?

What they are checking: Whether their records meet the standard for reproducible research and manuscript preparation.

How do you keep mammalian cell cultures healthy and free of contamination?

What they are checking: Whether they have strong sterile habits and routine checks like mycoplasma testing.
