Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a time accuracy really mattered in data entry you did. How did you make sure it was right?

What they are checking: Whether they have concrete habits for checking their own work, since extreme accuracy is the core of the job.

This role is mostly remote. How do you stay focused and productive working from home, and how do you stay connected to the team?

What they are checking: Whether they can manage themselves without someone watching and still ask for help when stuck.

Tell me about a time you had a high call volume and a long work list at the same time. How did you get through it?

What they are checking: Whether they can balance live calls with background work so registrations are done before patients arrive.

What would you do

Your work queue has registrations kicked back from billing edits. How do you work through them and stop the same errors from coming back?

What they are checking: Whether they fix root causes and notice patterns rather than just clearing items one by one.

A caller is upset because they've been asked for their insurance information three times already. How do you handle that call?

What they are checking: Whether they can stay patient and kind under repeat frustration while still getting accurate data.

A patient on a research study shows up in your work list. What would you check differently compared to a regular clinic patient?

What they are checking: Whether they think about who pays for research visits, which affects compliance and correct billing.

What would you do if you suspected the insurance card a patient gave you didn't belong to them?

What they are checking: Whether they follow compliance policy on possible fraud rather than ignoring it or confronting the patient badly.

About the work

Walk me through how you register a new patient by phone in Epic before their clinic visit, from first hello to done.

What they are checking: Whether they have a repeatable, complete process, since missing fields turn into billing denials later.

How do you run an electronic eligibility check, and what do you do when the result comes back inactive or unclear?

What they are checking: Whether they know how to resolve coverage problems before the visit instead of passing them to billing.

Tell me what the Medicare Secondary Payer questionnaire is for and how you'd walk a patient through it.

What they are checking: Whether they understand MSP rules well enough to ask the right questions and bill the correct payer.

How do you verify Medicaid eligibility, and what makes it different from verifying commercial insurance?

What they are checking: Whether they understand that Medicaid coverage changes often and must be checked close to each visit.
