You're on nights with an intensivist who is covering many patients. How do you present a concern so you get a decision quickly?

What they are checking: Clear, structured communication like SBAR that gets action from a busy physician.

About the work

The MRICU is a 24-bed unit with high-acuity medical and respiratory patients. Walk me through how you'd manage a patient in septic shock in their first hours with you.

What they are checking: Knowing the sepsis bundle, fluid and pressor management, and what to reassess and how often.

How do you titrate vasopressors, and what tells you a patient needs a second agent?

What they are checking: Safe handling of high-alert drips and knowing when the current plan is failing.

The posting mentions CRRT certification support. What do you know about caring for a patient on CRRT, and what problems come up?

What they are checking: Familiarity with continuous dialysis basics like filter clotting, fluid removal and electrolyte shifts.

How do you approach sedation and delirium in a ventilated patient?

What they are checking: Knowing sedation goals, daily awakening trials and delirium screening, which affect how fast patients come off the vent.
