Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Give me an example where you improved working capital without hurting material availability or service levels.

What they are checking: Whether they can reduce inventory cost while keeping production supplied, a key financial lever for the role.

How do you develop and hold accountable a team of site materials managers you do not see every day?

What they are checking: Whether they can lead managers remotely through clear metrics, coaching and regular contact.

Tell me about a time you led a significant change in materials processes and people pushed back.

What they are checking: Whether they can lead change through people, not just policy, across several facilities.

What would you do

You would lead materials management across multiple manufacturing facilities. How do you set enterprise standards while respecting real differences between sites?

What they are checking: Whether they can balance consistency and local needs, which is the core tension in a regional role.

One site has strong inventory accuracy and another is far behind. How would you close the gap?

What they are checking: Whether they diagnose root causes and transfer good practice rather than just pushing targets.

About the work

Tell me about your experience with PFEP. How have you built or used a plan for every part to improve material flow?

What they are checking: Whether they have hands-on PFEP knowledge, which the posting names as part of the job.

How do you decide on the right inventory strategy for engineered-to-order work versus repeat components?

What they are checking: Whether they can tailor inventory approaches to different demand patterns instead of using one rule for everything.

How do you align materials planning with production planning so shortages and excess both go down?

What they are checking: Whether they understand how planning integration drives both service and cost outcomes.

What metrics would you put on a regional materials dashboard, and why those?

What they are checking: Whether they know which measures actually drive materials performance and safety.

How do you coordinate warehousing and logistics so material moves safely and efficiently between sites?

What they are checking: Whether they can integrate logistics across a network rather than optimizing one building at a time.
