Tell me about a time you had to learn a new system quickly to inspect it properly.

What they are checking: Whether they prepare and ask questions before inspecting work outside their comfort zone.

What would you do

A trade partner disagrees with a deficiency you wrote up. How do you handle it?

How do you track deficiencies so they actually get closed, not just logged?

What they are checking: Whether they follow up until work is corrected and verified, which is where quality programs often fail.

What is the difference between quality assurance and quality control on a construction project?

What they are checking: Whether they understand that preventing problems through process is different from catching them through inspection.

What kinds of testing have you supported, such as pressure tests, torque checks or electrical testing, and what was your role?

What they are checking: Whether they know how systems are verified and how test results tie into project documentation.

What codes or standards do you refer to most often in your work?

What they are checking: Whether they know where requirements come from rather than relying on memory or habit.
