Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a time you used process data to find the root cause of a scrap problem.

What they are checking: Whether they rely on data and structured analysis rather than tribal knowledge or trial and error.

Describe a time you worked with tooling or maintenance to fix a problem that was not purely a process issue.

What they are checking: Whether they can collaborate across departments when the root cause sits outside their own area.

What would you do

An operator changed a parameter without telling anyone and scrap went up. How do you handle it?

What they are checking: Whether they fix the process and the communication without blaming people, and protect the standard settings.

Molten aluminum and high-pressure machines are dangerous. What safety habits do you never skip?

What they are checking: Whether safety is a real habit for them in a high-hazard environment, not a slogan.

About the work

Walk me through how you would set up a shot profile on a high-pressure aluminum die casting machine for a new part.

What they are checking: Whether they understand slow shot, fast shot, and intensification well enough to set them with purpose.

You are seeing gas porosity in a casting. What process variables do you check first?

What they are checking: Whether they connect a defect to likely causes like venting, lube, and fill speed instead of guessing.

How do you tell a cold shut from a misrun, and what does each one tell you about the process?

What they are checking: Whether they can read defects accurately, since the wrong diagnosis leads to the wrong adjustment.

How does die temperature affect soldering and blisters, and how do you control it?

What they are checking: Whether they understand thermal balance in the die and its link to common aluminum defects.

What belongs on a good process sheet or machine setup instruction?

What they are checking: Whether they can document parameters clearly enough that any shift can run the job the same way.

Before you lock in a process change, how do you validate it?

What they are checking: Whether they confirm changes with data and quality sign-off so fixes hold up over time.
