Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a time you had to tell a customer no or not yet. How did you keep them happy?

What they are checking: Whether they can deliver bad news in a way that keeps campus customers coming back to an in-house shop.

Tell me about a time a job went wrong in production. What did you do?

What they are checking: Whether they own mistakes, fix them quickly and learn something that prevents the same problem again.

This job is fully on site at the Stoughton Road facility. What draws you to working in a print facility day to day?

What they are checking: Whether they genuinely want hands-on production work rather than a desk job they can do from anywhere.

What would you do

A department needs 2,000 brochures by Friday, but the job came in Wednesday afternoon. How do you handle that request?

What they are checking: Whether they check capacity and schedules before promising, and give the customer real options instead of a guess.

A customer picks up their order and says the colors don't match what they saw on screen. What do you say?

DPPS serves the UW campus and beyond. How would you explain our services to a new department that usually orders printing from an outside vendor?

How do you handle the handoff between the customer and the production team so nothing gets lost?

What they are checking: Whether they write clear job instructions and confirm details, since most print errors start with miscommunication.

About the work

Tell me about your print production experience. What kinds of equipment and jobs have you worked with?

What they are checking: Whether they understand how print work actually gets made, so they can set honest expectations with customers.

How do you track several print jobs at once so none of them miss their deadline?

What they are checking: Whether they have a reliable way to coordinate production schedules rather than relying on memory.

What do you check on a customer's file before it goes to production?

What they are checking: Whether they know common file problems like low resolution, missing bleed or wrong color mode that ruin a print run.
