Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

You'd be the champion for a corporate card partner across internal and third-party tech teams. Tell me about a time you represented a partner's interests while still protecting your own company.

What they are checking: Whether they can advocate for a partner without overpromising or giving away what their own side needs.

How do you keep a project moving when the engineers doing the work don't report to you?

What they are checking: Whether they lead through clarity, relationships and shared goals rather than relying on authority they do not have.

Tell me about a production issue that affected an external partner. How did you handle communication with them?

What they are checking: Whether they keep partners informed honestly and on a rhythm during incidents, which protects the relationship.

How technical do you think a project manager on a technology team needs to be? Give me an example where it mattered.

What they are checking: Whether they understand enough of the systems to spot risk and ask the right questions of engineers.

Describe a time you had two partners or projects competing for the same engineering capacity.

What they are checking: How they surface tradeoffs and get the right people to decide priority rather than quietly choosing themselves.

What would you do

A partner integration is two weeks from launch and a third-party vendor misses a key deliverable. Walk me through your next 48 hours.

What they are checking: Whether they assess impact, escalate early, find options and communicate clearly instead of hoping the date holds.

The partner asks for a change late in the project that sounds small but touches several systems. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they run a real impact assessment and change process instead of saying yes to keep the partner happy.

How would you report status to senior leaders who only have five minutes?

What they are checking: Whether they lead with decisions needed and risks, not a list of activities.

About the work

What does rigorous risk management look like on a technical integration project at a bank?

What they are checking: Their awareness of controls, data security, change management and testing evidence in a regulated card business.

Explain how you'd track dependencies across several platforms and teams on one partner integration.

What they are checking: Their method for making cross-team dependencies visible so slips are caught before they hit the critical path.
