About your past

Tell me about a time you noticed a problem before anyone else did and helped fix it.

What they are checking: Whether they spot and raise problems early, which the posting lists as helping identify and resolve issues.

Tell me about a time you made a mistake at work. How did you find out, and what did you do?

What they are checking: Whether they own errors quickly, which matters in a lab where hidden mistakes affect patient results.

The I-CARE values include accountability and respect. Give me an example of how you showed one of them with a coworker.

What they are checking: Whether they can connect stated values to real behavior on a team, not just repeat the words.

What would you do

A specimen arrives labeled with only one patient identifier. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they refuse to guess and follow rejection or recollection policy, because a mislabeled sample can harm a patient.

The phone is ringing, a courier is waiting, and a tech asks you to find a missing specimen. How do you decide what to do first?

A provider's office calls upset that a result isn't back yet. How do you handle the call?

What they are checking: Whether they can calm a caller, find the real status and route the question correctly without giving out results they shouldn't.

About the work

This role supports the Chemistry department. Walk me through how you would log in reagent inventory and rotate it.

What they are checking: Whether they understand first-in, first-out and expiration tracking, since expired reagents can ruin test results.

How would you handle a specimen that needs to be kept cold or tested within a set time, when the lab is busy?

What they are checking: Whether they know specimen handling requirements and will prioritize time-sensitive samples instead of processing in arrival order.

How do you decide when to reorder supplies, and what happens if you wait too long?

What they are checking: Whether they understand par levels and lead times, since a supply gap can stop testing in the department.

How do you protect yourself and others when handling blood and other specimens?

What they are checking: Whether they know standard precautions and safe transport, which protects staff and keeps specimens intact.
