About your past

Tell me about a time you balanced a cash drawer or handled money and found a discrepancy. What did you do?

What they are checking: Whether they handle cash errors honestly and by procedure, since drawer accuracy is basic trust in a branch.

You will go through a 4 to 8 week program and a certification. Tell me about a time you had to learn something difficult in a short time.

What they are checking: Whether they can handle structured, fast training and come out ready to perform on their own.

Tell me about a time you had to tell a customer no. How did you keep the relationship?

What they are checking: Whether they can follow rules while still treating people with respect so they stay with the bank.

Why do you want to work in a bank branch, and why a role that mixes teller work and sales?

What they are checking: Whether they understand the blend of service, accuracy and sales goals before they accept the job.

What would you do

This job includes processing teller transactions and working the platform. How would you switch between a cash drawer and a sit-down account opening on a busy morning?

Tele-consulting means calling existing customers. How would you open a call to someone who did not expect to hear from the bank?

What they are checking: Whether they can make outreach calls that feel helpful and not like a cold sales pitch.

The goal here includes acquiring new households. Where would you look for new customers in a community like Bloomingdale?

What they are checking: Whether they think actively about growth and the local community, rather than only serving whoever walks in.

A customer at the counter asks you to cash a large check for someone else and seems nervous. What goes through your mind?

What they are checking: Whether they notice possible fraud or elder exploitation signs and follow policy without accusing the customer.

About the work

What does lobby leadership mean to you, and what would you actually do while standing in the lobby?

What they are checking: Whether they will greet and engage people proactively instead of waiting behind a desk for someone to walk up.

How would you find out what a customer actually needs if they only came in to make a deposit?

What they are checking: Whether they know how to ask natural, open questions that uncover needs during a short transaction.
