Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a time you helped a coworker get better at selling. What did you actually show them?

What they are checking: Whether they can train by example and specific coaching rather than just telling people to sell more.

Tell me about a time you had to hold a peer to a standard, like being on time or following a policy. How did that go?

What they are checking: Whether they can lead former peers with fairness and integrity instead of avoiding uncomfortable moments.

Tell me about a time you turned around a customer who was unhappy with a product or a return.

What they are checking: Whether they protect brand loyalty under pressure and know when to solve versus when to bring in a manager.

What would you do

You're opening the store as keyholder and two associates call out. How do you set up the day so the floor is still covered and the sales goal is still in reach?

What they are checking: Whether they can make calm, practical coverage decisions when they are the leader in the building.

A customer comes in for one bag as a gift. How would you turn that into a bigger, happier sale without being pushy?

What they are checking: Whether they understand add-on selling as helping the customer, which is how the store hits its numbers.

The store is slow on a weekday afternoon. What would you have the team working on?

What they are checking: Whether they keep the team productive with visual standards, outreach, and product knowledge when traffic is low.

How would you help bring customers into the store through community or customer outreach?

What they are checking: Whether they think beyond waiting for walk-ins and can help drive traffic the way the posting asks.

About the work

How would you share the day's sales goal and promotions with the team at the start of a shift so people actually remember them?

What they are checking: Whether they can give daily direction that is short, clear, and tied to what associates should do on the floor.

What steps do you follow when closing the store and handling the cash and keys?

What they are checking: Whether they take the trust that comes with being a keyholder seriously and follow security and cash procedures.

What do you know about Vera Bradley products, and which would you recommend to a college student versus a traveler?

What they are checking: Whether they have real interest in the product, which shows up in how naturally they make suggestions.
