Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Once you pick up a shift, the store is counting on you. Tell me about a time someone was relying on you to be somewhere on time and how you made sure you got there.

What they are checking: Reliability is the one thing a store can't train, so they listen for habits that protect attendance.

You could be on a register one week, stocking General Merchandise the next, and working Food and Beverage after that. How do you get up to speed fast in an area you haven't worked in a while?

What they are checking: Whether they ask questions and learn quickly instead of standing around waiting to be told everything.

Tell me about a time you helped a customer or a stranger without being asked. What made you step in?

What they are checking: Whether helping guests comes naturally, since the role is built around welcoming people and making shopping easy.

You are working with team members you've never met because you float between shifts. How do you fit in and work well with a new group quickly?

What they are checking: Whether they can build quick working relationships, since on-demand staff join a different crew almost every shift.

What would you do

As an On-Demand team member you build your own schedule by picking up shifts in the myTime app. How would you decide which shifts to grab in a given month?

What they are checking: Whether they understand that flexibility still comes with a duty to show up and pick up enough work.

The role asks you to pick up at least one four-hour shift every four weeks and to answer when the store reaches out. How will you make sure that happens even in a busy month?

What they are checking: Whether they will quietly drift away, which is the most common way on-demand hires stop working out.

You show up for a shift and the leader moves you from the area you expected to Fulfillment because online orders are backed up. How do you handle that?

What they are checking: Whether they can shift gears without complaint when store needs change mid-day, which happens constantly.

A guest at the checklane says an item rang up at a different price than the sign. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they stay calm, follow the price-check process, and keep the guest feeling respected while it gets fixed.

What other commitments do you have right now, and how does picking up shifts on your own schedule fit with them?

What they are checking: Whether their availability is realistic, so the store knows they will actually take shifts when posted.

About the work

In Food and Beverage you would be checking dates and keeping things fresh. Why does that matter so much in a grocery area?

What they are checking: Whether they grasp food safety and freshness basics rather than seeing stocking as just filling shelves.
