Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about the largest diagnostics or lab contract you've won or renewed. What did you do that made the difference?

What they are checking: Real enterprise selling experience with long cycles, not transactional wins.

How do you work with regional sales reps and service teams who don't report to you but touch your accounts?

What they are checking: Leading without authority, since national accounts depend on many people outside the manager's control.

Tell me about a time you lost a big deal. What did you learn and change?

What they are checking: Honest self-review and the ability to adjust strategy rather than blaming price or timing.

What would you do

A national health system wants to standardize its labs on one vendor. How would you build the case for Abbott across many sites?

What they are checking: Whether they can sell standardization as a system-wide value story with clinical and financial proof.

A key account is unhappy after a rough instrument rollout and is talking to a competitor. What do you do in the first two weeks?

What they are checking: Whether they own the problem, pull in service and operations, and rebuild trust quickly.

How do you keep senior executives at a health system engaged when the day-to-day contact is the lab manager?

What they are checking: Ability to build relationships at several levels so the account does not hinge on one person.

About the work

Walk me through how you'd map a large reference lab account: who decides on a diagnostics platform, who influences it, and who can block it.

What they are checking: Whether they can navigate complex buying groups where lab, finance and executives all have a vote.

How do you talk about total cost of ownership with a lab director who only wants to compare reagent prices?

What they are checking: Whether they can shift a price conversation to workflow, uptime and staffing value.

What do you know about how group purchasing organizations and IDN contracting affect lab purchasing decisions?

What they are checking: Understanding of contract structures that shape what a health system can buy and when.

How do you build an account plan for a multi-year relationship, and how often do you revisit it?

What they are checking: Whether they plan for growth over years, not just the next quarter's number.
