Likely interview questions for this role
Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.
About your past
Tell me about a time you had to set up and tear down a room for an event on a tight schedule. How did it go?
What they are checking: Whether they can work fast under a hard deadline without cutting corners on safety or leaving a mess.
This job involves a lot of lifting and assembling. Tell me how you protect yourself and your coworkers from injury on a heavy day.
What they are checking: Whether safe lifting and team lifts are habits for them, not something they skip when rushed.
What would you do
Walk me through how you'd run a move from a Space Planning Coordinator's plan, from the day before to the moment the last person is settled at their new desk.
What they are checking: Whether they plan the sequence and check details before lifting anything, so people can work the next morning.
You get to a floor and the move plan doesn't match what's actually there. Desks are in different spots than the drawing shows. What do you do?
What they are checking: Whether they stop and confirm with the planner instead of guessing, since a wrong move means doing it twice.
Someone whose desk you're moving is upset because their things got mixed up. How do you handle that conversation?
What they are checking: Whether they stay calm and helpful with employees, because moves disrupt people and the mover is the face of it.
About the work
Tell me about your experience driving and operating a liftgate truck. What do you check before you load it?
What they are checking: Whether they treat the truck and liftgate as safety equipment with a routine, not just a ride between buildings.
Have you installed or reconfigured modular office workstations? Talk me through taking one down and putting it back up somewhere else.
What they are checking: Real hands-on knowledge of systems furniture, where missing parts and wrong order cost hours.
Moving lab furniture is different from moving office furniture. What would you be careful about in a lab space?
What they are checking: Awareness that labs have hazards, equipment and rules that office spaces do not, and that they would ask first.
How have you kept track of furniture inventory, so you know what's in storage and what's been reused?
What they are checking: Whether they can keep accurate records, since a bad inventory leads to buying furniture the site already owns.
Have you worked repair tickets out of a CMMS or CAFM system? How did you keep your work orders current?
What they are checking: Comfort closing out work in a system so the facilities team can see what is done and what is waiting.
