Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

This role is part-time, usually four to six hours a day, three or more days a week. What does your availability look like, and how firm is it?

What they are checking: Whether their schedule really fits, since the posting says reliability during scheduled hours is what patients depend on.

Tell me about a time you had to show up consistently for something even when it was inconvenient.

What they are checking: Whether they have a real track record of reliability rather than just saying they are dependable.

Tell me about a job where you had to follow a written procedure exactly, step by step. How did you keep from cutting corners?

What they are checking: Whether they can work inside strict SOPs, since this is a regulated setting where shortcuts cause real problems.

How do you keep a friendly, upbeat tone with the twentieth donor of your shift?

What they are checking: Whether they can sustain good customer service during a repetitive shift, since return donors keep the center running.

What would you do

As a screener you'll ask donors personal health questions every visit. How would you ask about something sensitive, like recent tattoos or travel, without making someone uncomfortable?

What they are checking: Whether they can stay neutral and respectful so donors answer honestly, which protects the safety of the plasma.

A regular donor gets annoyed and says, "You ask me the same questions every time, just check yes." How do you respond?

What they are checking: Whether they keep the screening honest and complete while keeping the donor calm and coming back.

You take a donor's blood pressure and it's outside the acceptable range. They insist it's just because they rushed in. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they follow the procedure, such as a recheck or deferral, rather than letting the donor talk them out of it.

You notice you entered a wrong number in a donor's record. Nobody else saw it. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they correct and report errors openly, because hidden mistakes are worse than honest ones in regulated work.

What would you do if a donor told you something during screening that made you think they might not be eligible, but they asked you not to write it down?

What they are checking: Whether honesty about safety wins when a donor asks for a favor.

About the work

How comfortable are you doing a finger stick and reading results like hematocrit and total protein, even if you've never done it before?

What they are checking: Whether they are open to hands-on testing and can handle the precision that training will demand.
