Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a time you had to protect a patient's privacy in a situation where it would have been easy not to.

What they are checking: Whether confidentiality is a habit for them, which matters a lot with sensitive women's health and pregnancy information.

Tell me about a time a patient was scared or emotional during a visit. What did you do?

What they are checking: Whether they show real compassion in moments like pregnancy loss or bad news while still keeping the visit on track.

Tell me about a time you disagreed with a coworker on the care team. How did you work it out?

What they are checking: Whether they can handle friction professionally in a small clinic team where everyone depends on each other.

What would you do

While you're taking vitals, a pregnant patient tells you she's had a bad headache and blurry vision since last night. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they recognize possible warning signs of preeclampsia and alert the provider right away instead of just charting it.

A patient's partner calls asking for her test results. How do you handle it?

What they are checking: Whether they know they cannot share results without the patient's permission, even with family, and can say so kindly.

This role travels between our OB/GYN sites. Tell me how you'd handle walking into a clinic where the flow and the people are different from your home site.

What they are checking: Whether they can adapt quickly to a new team's routines and ask the right questions instead of slowing the clinic down.

The provider is running 40 minutes behind and the waiting room is filling up. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they keep patients informed and help the day recover rather than just waiting it out.

About the work

Walk me through how you room an OB patient for a routine prenatal visit, from the lobby to when the provider walks in.

What they are checking: Whether they know the standard prenatal intake steps like vitals, weight, urine dip and updating history without being prompted.

How do you prepare a room and assist a provider for a pelvic exam or Pap smear?

What they are checking: Whether they know the setup, specimen handling and chaperone role, and how to keep the patient comfortable and covered.

How do you make sure a specimen is labeled correctly every single time?

What they are checking: Whether they use a consistent check like two patient identifiers at the bedside, since a mislabeled specimen can harm a patient.

What injections or point-of-care tests have you given or run, and how do you check that you're giving the right thing to the right patient?

What they are checking: Whether their hands-on skills match the role and whether they follow the rights of medication administration.
