A patient tells you they took their blood thinner this morning, but the instructions said to stop it three days ago. What do you do?
What they are checking: Whether they report a safety issue to the provider right away instead of deciding on their own whether it matters.
An anxious patient asks you whether the procedure is going to hurt and whether it's risky. How do you answer?
What they are checking: Whether they can comfort a nervous patient honestly while knowing which questions belong to the provider.
A patient's ride falls through and they can't leave after sedation without someone to drive them. How would you handle it?
What they are checking: Whether they know safety rules after sedation and will escalate instead of letting the patient go home alone.
About the work
Interventional radiology patients often come in for procedures like biopsies, drains or line placements. What information would you make sure to gather from a patient before the provider sees them?
What they are checking: Whether they know pre-procedure basics like allergies, blood thinners, fasting and consent are what keep a procedure from being canceled or going wrong.
Walk me through how you take and record vital signs, and tell me which numbers would make you stop and tell the provider before the procedure.
What they are checking: Whether they know normal ranges well enough to flag a problem rather than just write numbers down.
How do you set up and clean a procedure room so it's ready for the next patient?
What they are checking: Whether they understand infection control and room turnover, which keep a procedure schedule safe and on time.
How do you make sure your documentation in the patient record is accurate when the department is moving fast?
What they are checking: Whether they chart in real time and double-check, because errors in the record follow the patient into the procedure.
