Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Walk me through a root cause analysis you did on a refrigeration failure.

What they are checking: Whether they dig past the failed part to the underlying cause so the same failure does not happen again.

Tell me about an energy efficiency improvement you made. How did you measure it?

What they are checking: Whether they deliver efficiency gains backed by measured data rather than vendor estimates.

What would you do

A contractor's design for a new freezer doesn't meet your standards, and the project is behind schedule. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they hold safety and quality standards under schedule pressure while finding a practical path forward.

You're remote and a site technician disagrees with your recommendation. How do you handle it?

What they are checking: Whether they respect field experience and build trust without being on site to see the problem themselves.

About the work

Compare ammonia, CO2 and Freon systems. When would you recommend each one for a new distribution center?

What they are checking: Whether they understand the safety, cost, efficiency and regulatory tradeoffs between the three refrigerants the posting names.

What are the main elements of Process Safety Management for an ammonia system, and where do sites usually fall short?

What they are checking: Whether they know PSM well enough to find real gaps, such as stale P&IDs or overdue mechanical integrity work.

A site reports high head pressure on hot days. How would you troubleshoot it remotely?

What they are checking: Whether they can reason through condenser capacity, non-condensables and controls from data and site reports.

How would you write an engineering standard for evaporators that the Design and Construction team will use on every new build?

What they are checking: Whether they can turn expertise into clear specifications that contractors and other engineers can follow.

How do you keep system documentation accurate across many sites when changes happen in the field?

What they are checking: Whether they understand management of change, which is required for compliance and safe operation.

What would you look at in a review of a compressor room before an ammonia safety audit?

What they are checking: Whether they know practical items like ventilation, detection, relief valves and labeling that auditors check.
