Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

The SEO and GEO strategy lead sets direction and you execute. Tell me about a time you disagreed with a strategy you were handed.

What they are checking: Whether they can push back with evidence while still executing well, which this reporting setup depends on.

Tell me about content you rewrote that measurably improved performance. What did you change?

What they are checking: Whether they have proof of results and can explain the specific edits that made the difference.

What would you do

Marketing teams in other countries keep publishing content that ignores SEO guidance. How do you change that?

What they are checking: Whether they can influence teams they do not manage, with simple guidance and wins rather than rules alone.

How would you measure success when more answers are shown directly in AI results and fewer people click through?

What they are checking: Whether they think beyond clicks to visibility, citations and brand presence as search behavior changes.

A subject matter expert does not want their article shortened or restructured for search. How do you handle it?

What they are checking: Whether they can respect expertise while explaining why structure matters, so the content gets read at all.

About the work

How is optimizing content for AI Overviews and answer engines different from classic SEO?

What they are checking: Whether they understand GEO in practice, such as clear answers, structure and authority signals, not just keyword density.

Walk me through how you would audit and refresh an existing jll.com page that has lost traffic.

What they are checking: Whether they diagnose with data first, checking intent, competitors and technical issues, before rewriting anything.

Show me how you would write a page summary for a dense commercial real estate research report.

What they are checking: Whether they can write short, clear copy that serves both a human skimmer and a machine pulling an answer.

How do you find content gaps and trending topics worth creating new pages for?

What they are checking: Whether they use search data, competitor gaps and industry news to recommend content that will actually be found.

What SEO tools do you use daily, and which signals do you trust most?

What they are checking: Whether they have real hands-on tool fluency and judgment about which data is noisy.
