Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a time you supported a provider office that was resistant to a quality initiative.

What they are checking: Whether they can earn the trust of busy clinicians who see payer programs as extra work.

Describe a quality improvement project you led using CQI or TQM concepts. How did you know it worked?

What they are checking: Whether they apply a real improvement cycle with measurement instead of one-off fixes.

How do you educate providers on preventive care measures without sounding like you are telling them how to practice medicine?

What they are checking: Whether they respect clinical judgment while still delivering a clear message about measure requirements.

Tell me about a time your utilization review or med-surg background helped you spot a problem others missed.

What they are checking: Whether their clinical experience translates into sharper judgment in a population health role.

What would you do

As a supervisor, how do you coach a nurse on your team whose member outreach numbers are low?

What they are checking: Whether they look for the real cause, such as workflow or data issues, before assuming effort is the problem.

A provider tells you a member flagged as having a care gap already had the screening done elsewhere. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they handle data accuracy issues carefully and get the record corrected rather than pushing the provider.

About the work

Walk me through how you would identify and close care gaps for a provider group's attributed members.

What they are checking: Whether they know the practical workflow from data to outreach to documented closure.

Which quality measures have you worked to improve, and what actually moved the numbers?

What they are checking: Whether they have hands-on experience with HEDIS-style measures and know which interventions work.

How does value-based care change the conversation you have with a provider group compared to fee-for-service?

What they are checking: Whether they understand how payment incentives shape provider behavior and quality work.

You have accreditation agency experience. How do you prepare a team for an accreditation review?

What they are checking: Whether they know accreditation standards well enough to build readiness into daily work, not a last-minute scramble.
