Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a multi-million dollar, multiyear business and technology project you implemented. What was your role and what went wrong along the way?

What they are checking: Whether they have actually carried a large implementation and can speak honestly about the hard parts.

Describe a time you had to tell leadership a product initiative was behind schedule or over budget.

What they are checking: Whether they deliver bad news early with a plan, which is what keeps large programs recoverable.

Tell me about a time you led people who did not report to you to deliver a product change.

What they are checking: Whether they can lead through influence across a large matrixed enterprise.

What would you do

You are running several cross-enterprise implementations at once and two need the same IT resources in the same quarter. How do you decide?

What they are checking: Whether they prioritize by strategic value and escalate with data rather than by who complains loudest.

How do you decide whether an existing product needs an enhancement or should be replaced by a next-generation offering?

What they are checking: Whether they weigh member value, cost and operational burden instead of favoring new things by default.

About the work

How do you manage a health insurance product through its full lifecycle, from idea to retirement?

What they are checking: Whether they see product management as ongoing ownership, not a one-time launch.

What industry trends in health insurance products are you watching right now, and which one would you act on first?

What they are checking: Whether they keep up with the market and can connect a trend to a concrete product decision.

How do you build a budget and estimate for a product implementation when the requirements are still fuzzy?

What they are checking: Whether they can estimate responsibly under uncertainty and manage the budget as facts come in.

What project management tools and methods do you rely on, and when do you change your approach?

What they are checking: Whether they adapt methods to the project rather than forcing one framework on everything.

How do you measure whether a product you launched is operationally effective a year later?

What they are checking: Whether they define success with real operating metrics and follow through after launch.
