Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a regulatory remediation commitment you were accountable for. How did you make sure it closed on time?

What they are checking: Whether they understand that a missed regulatory milestone damages trust with examiners and how they manage that risk.

You lead a small team but depend on dozens of application owners who do not report to you. How do you get them to deliver?

What they are checking: Whether they influence without authority through clear asks, visible tracking and escalation used sparingly.

Tell me about a time you coached someone on your team through a high-pressure resilience event or test.

What they are checking: Whether they develop their people while delivering, since a small team cannot afford a single point of failure.

What would you do

A critical application fails its recovery time objective during a DR test. What do you do in the next week?

What they are checking: Whether they can turn a failed test into a tracked remediation plan with honest reporting instead of quietly retesting.

How do you approach technology currency when an application team keeps deferring an end-of-life upgrade because the business wants new features?

What they are checking: Whether they can make the risk of outdated technology concrete enough that business owners fund the upgrade.

How do you report resilience status to senior leaders so they understand real risk, not just a dashboard full of green?

What they are checking: Whether they can surface uncomfortable gaps clearly instead of presenting reports that hide problems behind averages.

Audit finds that DR documentation for several applications is out of date. How do you respond and prevent a repeat?

What they are checking: Whether they fix the process that let documentation drift, not only the specific findings audit pointed to.

About the work

Walk me through how you would plan and run a Live DR test for a critical banking application.

What they are checking: Whether they have actually run real failover exercises, including scoping, rollback plans, and evidence capture for regulators.

What is the difference between a disaster recovery plan, a business continuity plan, and operational resilience as regulators now use the term?

What they are checking: Whether they understand that resilience centers on important business services and impact tolerances, not only system recovery.

How would you decide which applications across Personal and Business Banking and Wealth count as critical services?

What they are checking: Whether they tie criticality to customer and market impact rather than to who complains the loudest.
