Likely interview questions for this role

Written from this job description, not a generic list. Each one notes what the interviewer is really checking.

About your past

Tell me about a PLM upgrade or migration you led. What went wrong and how did you handle it?

What they are checking: Whether they have run hard system changes and can speak honestly about the problems they hit.

Tell me about how you've built and developed a technical team.

What they are checking: Whether they can hire, grow and keep people in a specialized area where talent is hard to find.

This role is onsite three days a week. How do you stay connected to what engineers actually need?

What they are checking: Whether they deliberately spend time with users rather than managing systems only from meetings.

What would you do

Engineers say the PLM workflow slows them down. How do you respond?

What they are checking: Whether they listen to users and improve the process while keeping the control that aerospace needs.

A change to the PLM configuration accidentally blocks engineering releases for a day. What do you do?

What they are checking: Whether they respond fast, communicate openly and fix the change process that let it happen.

About the work

Which PLM systems have you managed, and what did you own beyond keeping the system running?

What they are checking: Whether they have led PLM as a business capability, not just administered servers and licenses.

How would you connect PLM with ERP so engineering BOMs flow cleanly into manufacturing?

What they are checking: Whether they understand EBOM to MBOM handoffs, change control and integration failure points.

How do export control and ITAR affect how you manage access to engineering data?

What they are checking: Whether they know that technical data access must be restricted by person and country in defense work.

How do you prioritize requests from engineering, manufacturing and quality when your team can't do everything?

What they are checking: Whether they use a clear intake and priority process tied to business value rather than first come, first served.

How do you think about CAD data management and integration with tools like NX, Creo or SolidWorks?

What they are checking: Whether they understand the CAD side of PLM, which is where engineers feel most of the pain.

How would you set a multi-year roadmap for engineering IT systems at Woodward?

What they are checking: Whether they can tie system investments to engineering and manufacturing goals instead of chasing features.
